"Ups and Downs" is a melodic treat that fans of Teenage Fanclub, The Pernice Brothers and Big Star will enjoy. The gorgeous "Away" opens, reminding me of Cotton Mather's "Baby Freeze Queen", and it's followed by the midtempo "Suddenly", which out-TFs Teenage Fanclub. Just to show they aren't exclusively "soft", Mazzola & Co. rock out on the raucous "Everyday (I Die a Little Bit)" - Absolutepowerpop (U.S.A.)

Every song on here is well written, short and sweet, gentle little classics in the making. This album is a powerpop / Americana / Britpop classic in my opinion, and is great music to chill out to! Mazzola has an affection for several classic pop influences like The Byrds, John Lennon, and The Replacements. All songs are full of great classic hooks and interesting chord changes that I know pop fans will cherish. Juan's vocals have the same gentle delivery of Lennon and the melodic qualities are excellent here. Lead guitarist Cristian Basualdo does a great job here too, as the duo recall Let It Be-era Lennon-McCartney on a pair of tracks ("The Riots" and "Ups and Downs"). This is highly recommended to powerpop fans - Powerpopaholic (U.S.A.)

"Ups and Downs" is actually divided in two parts, the first one was recorded in Argentina and the second one named "Planet Michael" was recorded in Germany. The cd offers us some craftily well written pop tunes that sometimes make me think about DINOSAUR JR. or The SERVANT. You'll get some 90s power pop in the vein of early PLACEBO as well as some good melodic guitar solos, some STONES traces . The CD closes paying tribute to The REPLACEMENTS with a "Skyway" cover. - Veglam Webzine (France)
