Tunacan Jones If I could add another favorite song, it would be "Somebody Kill Me Now" My personal anthem now! Full of dark goodness! <3 However, "Fake It Till You Make It" has been a favorite before I heard this E.P. Give the video a look on You Tube! Favorite track: Fake It Till You Make it.

It's not an easy thing to be a songwriter. Sometimes ideas don't come. And then there is the case of Baby Scream (Juan Pablo Mazzola). In his case the ideas never stop coming. They collide in his head with a jumble of emotions, competing and idiosyncratic musical touchstones and the eternal jousting of the yin and the yang.
His newest EP "Things U Can Say To A Stranger" is ironic in the sense these are songs it takes bravery to say to oneself. Like the opener, "Aching Life", a song so introspective and haunted John Lennon (who Juan often sounds similar to) would have been hesitant to reveal. The dichotomy of the sentiments in the songs "Live While You Can" and "Somebody Kill Me Now" is not near so wide as it seems. Life is approached with much wariness but a measure of hope. With expectations of confusion but a self-deprecating humor. These are songs that drag you through the day with a smirk on your face. A knowing-type smirk.

Juan's voice is a mix of Bolan, Lennon, Nilsson, Neil Young mixed with miscellaneous reedy falsettos and spun thru a blender. And, at the core of the ball is melody. The hummability and guitar lick of "Somebody Kill Me Now" becomes irresistible in less than a minute. The grungy-garage strum of "Fake It Till You Make It" is timeless and kinda hypnotic.

All in all, there is a nobility and luxuriousness in being able to bask in your "petite ennuis" and solipsism.
It helps if one can do it with the wit, the charm and the "let it fly" attitude of Baby Scream.
